Ways to spend July Fourth: Go to the Esplanade in Boston to watch the Pops concert and subsequent fireworks. Or debate the actions of our presidential candidates, Democratic Sen. Barack Obama and Republican Sen. John McCain. Why not do both? That’s what Bob and Susannah, plus a neutral cat, do on their Independence Day in the latest episode of “Running Gags”!

hmmmm … fireworks, crazy views, dialogue, shaking up campaign staff, karl rove, substance, flash, illumination, intimidation … hmmmm … are those the issues?

Martin, no those are the characterizations of the issues. You know, where the contention really occurs.
I like it. I can see some light in the dungeon.

Martin, Rich and crew,
Hope you had a good fourth of July weekend. Well expressed cartoon and again Martin you are well on point. I fear we all vote for flash and excitement. The real issues? They will get buried in the media campaign hoopla as we enter the big dollar campaigns. Bigger question is whether Adam Smith and our forefathers envisioned this in anyway.
